Center Open House and Capital Campaign Kickoff
Everyone is invited to attend The Center’s Annual Volunteer Celebration and Community Open House on Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 11am to 2pm.
From 11am – 12pm, learn how your investment in The Center is making a difference in the lives of LGBT Coloradans at our stakeholder briefing. Stay from 12pm – 2pm for refreshments and a light brunch with staff, board, donors, and friends for a celebration of our volunteers and all they contribute to The Center.
We'll also be recognizing two of our hard-working volunteers with a small awards ceremony:
Roy W. Wood Lifetime Achievement Award: Leonard Latham
Leonard has been an intricate part of The Center’s Terry Magdan Library. He started volunteering with Roy Wood 15 years ago to provide the LGBT community with a unique, specialized library. He originated the resources, kept them updated, organized, and available to our community.
Outstanding Volunteer of The Year: Chris King
Chris started volunteering during our grand opening in September of 2010. He started volunteering at our front desk a couple of weeks later and committed to a Friday shift for about a year. He has worked every event including our Jokers, Jewels and Justice, our happy Hour Series and our 35 Anniversary Gala. Chris was a Volunteer Captain at PrideFest this year giving an amazingly dedicated 60 hours of his time, patience, and hard work over the 3 day weekend. He was one of our first Street Team members and quickly became a leader in our community outreach efforts. Chris puts his heart and soul into his volunteer work and it shows. His dedication is rewarding and does not go unnoticed. Chris is a shining example of how to engage, empower, enrich and advance the LGBT community.
This event is free and open to the community. If you are interested in attending the stakeholder briefing, please RSVP to Jessie Genther jgenther@glbtcolorado.org or 303-951-5202 by November 7th, 2011.
