The Center is very pleased to announce it has entered into a strategic relationship with Equal Rights Colorado which will strengthen each organization.
ERC and The Center have formed an affiliation that will allow each one to accomplish its mission better and more efficiently. Members of one board will sit on the board of the other organization and ERC will have staff support for the first time.
ERC’s mission of promoting equal rights for Colorado’s GLBT community and their families through non-partisan state legislative advocacy, which includes hiring a full-time professional lobbyist, will remain the same. ERC will continue to operate as a 501(c)(4) corporation with its own board of directors.
The Center, for its part, will continue to operate as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporation whose mission includes educating the community about legal and public policy issues affecting GLBT civil rights.
The missions of ERC and The Center complement each other, making this a natural alliance that will give GLBT people in Colorado a stronger voice in the legislature, in the media, and in political forums around the state.
